Netflix to broadcast Formula 1 for the first time
The streaming giant has reached a landmark content-sharing agreement in the United States with Apple TV, the official rights holder for the competition in the region.
The partnership features a joint broadcast of the Canadian Grand Prix in May. For the first time, Netflix subscribers in the U.S. will be able to stream the entire race weekend—including practice sessions, qualifying, and the main race—simultaneously with Apple TV.
Apple TV secured exclusive U.S. broadcasting rights starting this year in a five-year deal valued at approximately $150 million per season. In exchange for the race simulcast, Apple TV will now carry the eighth season of Netflix’s hit docuseries "Drive to Survive", which premiered on February 27.
This move solidifies Netflix's aggressive expansion into live sports. Its 2026 slate already includes MLB events such as Opening Night and the Home Run Derby, as well as the highly anticipated professional rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, set for September 19 at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
