City Football Group has recorded losses of over £900 million since 2013
According to The New York Times, the group that owns Manchester City and other clubs has not made a profit in any year since its formation.
CFG recorded losses of £122 million in the 2023-24 season, and since 2013, it has accumulated total losses of £972 million.
This situation is not primarily due to Manchester City's finances, as the club has generated a profit of £103 million over the last decade. However, other clubs like New York City, Troyes, Girona, and Bahia have struggled to sustain themselves.
City Group’s main expense is staff salaries, including players. In the last season, total salary costs reached £664 million, with £251 million going to players who are not part of Manchester City.
At the end of the 2013-14 season, board member John MacBeath stated, "We expect the group to be profitable within the next three years." However, more than a decade later, this has yet to happen.
