Haiti forced to modify jersey following FIFA mandate
On the eve of the World Cup kickoff, the Central American national team was compelled to alter its home kit design after it was found to be in violation of official equipment regulations.
The jersey, designed by Colombian sportswear brand Saeta, featured an illustration of the Battle of Vertières, where the Haitian army defeated Napoleon Bonaparte's forces in 1803.
FIFA equipment regulations strictly prohibit "the display of political, religious, or personal slogans, statements, or images" on match kits.
Saeta resolved the issue by redesigning the kit in a solid blue template, stating officially that the original design "was not intended as a political statement, but rather as a tribute to the men and women who contribute to Haiti's future."
