Japan's league to feature a "Captain Tsubasa" match ball
Marking 40 years since the final broadcast of the "Captain Tsubasa" anime, the ball was designed by local brand Sfida for the 2026 season.
"Tsubasa" means "wing" in Japanese, which is why the design features wing-inspired graphics in orange, green, blue, and violet tones. It also includes an image of the protagonist, Oliver Atom, and the phrase "The ball is my friend," popularized by the series.
Sfida became the technical sponsor of the J.League this year, replacing Adidas, which had manufactured the league's balls since 1993.
It has already gone on sale through the brand's website, priced at 130 dollars with worldwide shipping available.
