FC Barcelona's curious multi-million dollar deal with an African country
According to Spanish media, the club signed a €40 million partnership with the Democratic Republic of Congo's tourism board.
The deal spans four seasons at €10M per year, with the country's initials (D.R.C.) appearing on the training/matchday shirt sleeves for both Barcelona's men's and women's teams.
The agreement is part of the DRC government's strategy to "position the country on the international stage," according to their tourism minister. They've also signed similar sponsorship deals with AS Monaco and AC Milan, though the financial terms remain undisclosed.
